Michael Ray

As a young private equity attorney, an early mentor instilled in me the guiding principle that the act of giving someone money – whether as a charitable contribution, a friendly wager, or an investment – is an inherently personal experience for all parties. Accordingly, the fundamentals of any capital formation exercise, like most things in life, are grounded in relationships.

I believe there are few things more satisfying than the collective achievement of a common goal. Over the course of my career as an attorney and a real estate investment professional, I have always viewed outcome as a delicate balance between commerciality and relationships. Equitable result. Beyond reasonable. More than fair. Great partner. Trustworthy. All attributes that describe my preferred approach to any partnership endeavor, as well as my personal style.

As Chief Investment Officer of NexCore, I am primarily responsible for the formulation and execution of the company’s investment and capitalization strategies. One of my favorite aspects of the job entails working with internal stakeholders and external capital partners to create deal structures and investment products that drive strategic alignment and positive outcomes for all involved. And doing so in a way that cultivates lasting relationships built on trust and execution.

Beyond the office, I’m with my wife and sons in the mountains skiing or at the beach surfing and playing in the sand. I also enjoy golf, traveling and cooking over-the-top meals for friends and family. Our family also actively supports and works with multiple local organizations that seek to provide educational and social opportunities for under-resourced students to excel in school and life beyond the classroom.
