Rex Healthcare, a private, not-for-profit healthcare system in Raleigh, N.C., and NexCore Group today will begin construction of a 63,000 square-foot ambulatory healthcare center in Knightdale. The new medical campus will be located at the corner of Interstate 540 and Highway 64, close to many fast-growing neighborhoods and high-traffic retailers.
“Rex Healthcare is pleased to expand our healthcare services into the Knightdale community,” said Bob Ricker, Associate Vice President of Suburban Services, Rex Healthcare. “We anticipate a 16 percent population growth over the next three years, making for an estimated 270,000 people living within a 15-minute drive from our site in 2012. Our new Rex facility will give these eastern Wake County residents a convenient, high-quality option for their healthcare needs.”
Scheduled to open in May 2009, the new healthcare facility will offer a variety of much-needed services to area residents, including urgent care, diagnostic imaging, x-ray, lab, wound care center, digital mammography, mobile CT, sleep lab, and physician offices in a state-of-the-art facility.
Rex will lease approximately 32,000 square feet of the building’s space from NexCore Group, a real estate company that creates comprehensive healthcare real estate solutions with its hospital and healthcare system partners across the U.S.
Jarrod Daddis, Senior Managing Director of NexCore Group said, “NexCore is excited to be collaborating with Rex on the development of a quality ambulatory building that will be designed to meet the growing medical needs of people in the community.”
NexCore Group brings healthcare systems and physicians high-value healthcare real estate solutions that integrate and enhance medical practice business plans, with a focus expanding regional healthcare services in thriving communities.
The certificate of need (CON) to provide service in Knightdale, N.C. was approved by the state November 27, 2007. When first announced in 2007, Jennifer Bryan, executive director of the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, reported the community was thrilled that Rex and NexCore were putting down roots in the area.
